Lindsay & Jesus

“Keep talking, talk through and about everything. Ask for space when needed but always come back to talking..”

Today we are sharing our sweet Emerald Bride Lindsay’s love story with her now husband Jesus!

They have been together since 2021 and just knew they were meant for each other. Listen to how they met! “Jesús and I met at work- we are both elementary school principals in the same district. In 2019, I was hired as a brand new Principal and Jesus was an Assistant Principal at another school. His Principal at the time invited me to join them in some interviews searching for a new teacher. From that moment on, she began her matchmaking mission. We became great friends and colleagues, and that soon grew into love.” HOW CUTE Y’ALL!

Mindy is wearing one of our gorgeous, subtle, romantic a-line’s MINDY! Mindy normally has off the shoulder straps but Lindsay decided to make it her own and alter the straps to be put on her shoulders for some extra support! We love a bride who knows what she wants!

JUST WAIT… Here is how Jesus proposed to Lindsay.. CRYING ALREADY

“My fiancé, Jesus Luján, surprised me on the 4th of July, 2022. We were in Huntington Beach for my family’s annual 4th of July celebration and he covertly got me down to the beach at sunrise through my good friend Emily. She setup a fake photoshoot for us on the beach, beginning with some shots at a public bench that was dedicated in honor of my late grandfather- a cherished place of mine which I visit every time I go to California. To my surprise, when we arrived at the bench, there was Jesús waiting for me. He got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was stunned and kissed him before I could even answer, “YES!” We celebrated the rest of the day with family and friends, and ended it with fireworks on beach over the ocean. It was magical!”

YALL… HOW SWEET.

Here is what Lindsay had to say about her experience with us!

Every bride I meet I share about my fantastic experience at Emerald. I loved the personal attention, the wide-variety of dress styles, and how they carried dresses that fit my body type. The feel of the space is gorgeous and the staff we worked with were all extremely kind and lovely. Emerald made my wedding season and dress-shopping so wonderful.

What’s a solid piece of advice or quote you would share with a future bride?

Choose a Maid/Matron of Honor who loves you dearly and will do anything for you- also make sure they’re organized and can check off a good “To Do List!”

If there’s one thing you would change about the wedding industry what would it be? Why?

“Making weddings more cost-effective. It seems the moment “wedding” is part of any needed item, the price tags doubles or more.”

Did you do a first look at your wedding? If so describe it!

We did have a First Look, and we’re so glad we did! Jesús was waiting for me at the resort’s “Nest”, a beautiful cliff area surround by trees with an ocean view. Jesús was standing underneath a fabulous architectural art structure, facing the ocean while I walked up behind him, tapped him on his shoulder. His face lit up when we turned around seeing my gorgeous dress for the first time. I had worked hard not to give him any hints about what the wedding gown looked like, of course, a few escaped. I desperately wanted to have the perfect dress that he would adore. And he absolutely did! It was our first time seeing each other that day, and we enjoyed a calm, quiet moment together. I also had a first look with my Dad, and that was just the best moment for us- tears, laughter, and a “good luck” to Jesús to keep it together when he saw me walk down the aisle…which he didn’t, none of us did! 😊

What made you fall in love with your dress?

“The LACE! Goodness, “Mindy” is such a gorgeous design, the larger lace and the long train stole my heart as soon as I put it on. It was just so breathtakingly beautiful!”

What was one thing that was considered a “must have” for your wedding?

“We wanted anyone to come to be invited to come to our wedding, we wanted a gorgeous and fun resort for our guests to love, and we wanted to be married in the sand at sunset.”

Your favorite memory or funny story from your wedding?

“A favorite memory was the ceremony. I wish I could experience it all over again, it was perfect. We were married by our Matchmaker, Jesús’ previous principal, Emily McLarty. She led the ceremony with the most beautiful words and told our story impeccably. We will always remember listening to her words of encouragement while waves crashed in the background. The moment was overwhelmingly beautiful.”

Where did you get married at? Why did you choose this location?

“We had the most beautiful wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! It was at the Secrets/Dreams Bahia Mita resort. 60 family and friends joined us for the memorable experience. Our ceremony was on the sand looking out over the ocean just before sunset. We both wanted a destination wedding on the beach because we love the ocean and we knew it would be a memorable time with our loved ones. The destination wedding created a wonderful opportunity for our family and friends to have a gorgeous, relaxing vacation. Choosing a beach in Mexico was also important to us to honor my husband’s Mexican heritage. It was absolutely perfect! We cannot recommend destination weddings at all inclusive resorts enough!”

Congrats Lindsay & Jesus! Cheers to you both! Sending all the love your way!
