Emerald Bride, Grace Swan
Meet our lovely Emerald Bride, Grace Swan. It was an absolute pleasure to have Grace come to us to find her dream dress! When we hear non-traditional, our juices start tingling!! Grace started the appointment off by saying she’s already married?! WHAT?! But hey, we’re absolutely here for the non-traditional side of weddings and 1000% support any bride’s journey that walks through our doors.
You can find Grace wearing Iris, a dress that’s part of our Private Label .with Allure Bridals. Iris is the princess ballgown every little girl DREAMS about. She has all the beading, all the lace, and ALL the poof you’d expect any ballgown to have. We understand that strapless can be scary but Allure sets the absolute standard for structure in a wedding dress and Iris is no exception! Once you’re in Iris, you’re set to be whisked by your knight in shining armour and ballroom dance until the clock strikes midnight! There is an endless amount of beauty in the details of Iris, we can’t get enough of her!
Curious about more non-traditional details and what had us SWEATING at Grace’s wedding, read on for the tea:
How did your fiancé propose? And when?
He proposed on Easter in 2020 by taking my to the Dallas Botanical Gardens! It was such a surprise and was so sweet. 🥰
How did you and your now husband / wife meet?
We met through college. We met on a game night while playing Uno. We stayed up until 3am talking and baking cookies. The rest is history!
Where did you get married at? Why did you choose this location?
We chose The Springs Event Venue in Denton. We chose it because of its beautiful outdoor ceremony area and spacious reception area. It turned out to be amazing and we loved it!
Your favorite memory or funny story from your wedding?
It’s a funny story now. My maid of honor for a call. I heard her say “Get in the car right now and go get it. Fast!” My mind immediately went to the worst case scenario, and that’s exactly what happened. Somehow, the groom’s suit was left behind with only two hours until the ceremony. He ended up getting his suit ten minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to start. It was CRAZY.
Where did your wedding inspiration come from?
Lots and lots of pinterest and my love for mixy-matchy things. so wanted everything to be very textured and organic. That’s exactly what it was!
List of your favorite vendors:
Photography - Kelsie Hendricks Photography Makeup - Wildlife Wedding DJ - Joe Rich Entertainment
Would you consider your wedding traditional or non traditional? Why?
It was non traditional for sure. We eloped the year before but had a wedding anyways because we wanted to. It’s something we always wanted and we are happy we did it. We wouldn’t change anything.
Did you do something new, borrowed, or blue? If so what was it?
New - a perfume my husband got me for our day borrowed - my mother-in-law’s hair piece from her wedding blue - my shoes
Who said I love you first?
He did! Only a week or so after we started dating while he was one too many drinks deep haha.
What was one thing that was considered a “must have” for your wedding?
A good set of girls to get through the days with. Mine made my day so enjoyable and handled all the hiccups so well. I didn’t know half of them happened until after.
As a couple, what is your favorite date night?
We like to go to a lake near us in the evening with snacks and some music. We go look for constellations and just spend time together away from the world.
Describe your experience at Emerald’s.
AMAZING! Caitlyn did an amazing job of encouraging me to try on a dress that was a bit out of what I wanted. That dress was the one I fell in love with. I am so thankful for emerald!
What made you fall in love with your dress?
The sparkles!!!!!! And the floral accents done throughout. It matched my textured vibe and just seemed like it was made for me. I can’t explain it. It was just perfect for me.
If there’s one thing you would change about the wedding industry what would it be? Why?
The expectation for everything to be perfect and up to everyone’s standards. This came up with catering with me. I wanted to please everyone and was sacrificing what my husband and I wanted. We ended up going with what we wanted - Chickfila. And it was perfect. Everyone loved it. It was what we ate on our first date and made sense to have it on our big day even though it’s not traditional. We loved it.
What’s a solid piece of advice or quote you would share with a future bride?
Don’t stress!! It will all be a funny story when all is said and done!
